From humble beginnings

MAR.10.2008

In March 2008 a long term goal of creating a foundation for the development of independent electronic entertainment in Toronto was reached. Mathew Di Iorio created the framework for the Independent Games Project or IGP to recruit talent that wanted experience in game development and to enter the world of game development itself.

The IGP, under the vision of Mathew intends to do many things with its infrastructure. These goals can only be reached through the work of a core group of individuals and the stimulation of a community. The IGP therefore indoctrinates the following goals and values:

  • To design, develop and publish games that we believe people will want to play.

  • To remain as open to the community and general public as possible, while maintaining the security of product but without sacrifice to suggestions and input of members or the public.

  • To give opportunities, as they arise, to individuals who want a chance to contribute and credit in perpetuity to all contributers whether they contribute to the IGP itself or any project endorsed by the IGP.

  • To provide as many contracts, as available, to individuals based on a percentage of possible earnings from possible sales that may or may not occur.

  • Letters of reference and use of materials submitted by members for the purpose of portfolio building as requested.

  • To maintain a dynamic approach allowing for growth and change wherever necessary.

We hope that this six-fold approach will best suit the development of the IGP as we have envisioned it. This will most likely develop rapidly as we grow so check back often.

Although we want this to grow into a Toronto, Canada based development studio we will take a different approach to the whole business entity. We want to foster a community that will continue to grow and learn together. We need a place to go and teach each other.
